GWOT 2 - Uniform Expectations

Each emergency response group on campus must maintain a distinctive, unique appearance when on duty. This is for the safety and security of all.

Fire Brigade - will wear blue pants and an issue blue shirt with white lettering or white shirt with blue lettering. Turnout gear will be lettered [CLIENT] FIRE. Helmets will bear the number and last name or nickname of the firefighter as assigned by the Fire Brigade Captain in cooperation with Security.
Helmets will be black, except that the Fire Brigade Captain may choose to wear a gold helmet -when safe to do so-.

Stretcher Bearers - will wear a white hard hat lettered with SB (old) or CD (new, preferred) and a yellow reflective vest over their ordinary work apparel.

Security - will wear black pants and a uniform shirt. Will not wear reflective apparel at any time. The outer top garment will bear patches on both shoulders and on the left chest, the name and unique number assigned by Security to that guard. Subdued (tactical) markings are authorized. _Helmets will be either green or black in color_ and will not otherwise be marked. It is specifically prohibited to put rank markings on helmets, even if subdued. The specific uniform(s) will be as prescribed by the client security manager within these rules.

Facilities Group - will wear a yellow hard hat with the number and last name or nickname as assigned by the VP of Facilities in cooperation with Security. Unless the nature of the work requires additional protective clothing, the wearing of blue jeans by Facilities Group personnel is required. The left seat of the jeans and the right leg will be lettered in white (only) with a large "F" visible from a distance.

Reaction Team - shall wear a tactical vest lettered on front and back "REACT" When possible, the last 4 digits of the employee's ID number will be on the back of the vest as well as the back of the tactical helmet, when equipped. _The bearing of arms by a Reaction Team member without wearing a REACT vest shall be immediate grounds for arrest pending investigation._

Medical - medical staff shall wear 'scrubs' when working in and around the Infirmary. If medical staff respond to an incident, they (and ONLY THEY) shall wear a visible GREEN, repeat GREEN cross front and back on a white vest as provided, and a white hard hat with a green cross on front and back. White brassards with green cross armbands are optional but encouraged for medical staff only. Medical personnel may not openly carry weapons.

In the employee volunteer organizations, Team Leaders shall be identifiable by the letters TL on their hard hat or helmet. If resources make this impossible, brassards (arm bands) labeled TL are required. The carrying of a radio is insufficient to identify a team leader.

Prisoners are required to wear blue jeans labeled PW on both legs and have PW lettered on the front and back of their shirt or jacket. This lettering will be in yellow (preferred) or white (old). Reminder: no prisoner may ever be given authority over any other prisoner. Also, distinctions of dress are not permitted to prisoners.

Clothing Restrictions

For the safety of employees, contractors and others, the wearing of blue jeans is restricted to -OFF DUTY- personnel, including employees on leave status, except as labeled above. Employees who are not members of emergency response organizations may wear blue jeans although this is discouraged. Exception: casual Friday.

Managers are specifically forbidden to wear blue jeans at any time for any reason. This is a precaution against impersonation.

At no time and for no reason, may any employee wear the following garments:

-- any camouflage pattern of any color(s)
-- zebra stripes
-- any "red" cross, even for medical personnel
-- any combination that resembles a law enforcement or military uniform, particularly dark blue, khaki, green or black: except as outlined above

Uniform items may not be taken off campus without strict accountability. This does not include worn items on duty (i.e. convoy or volunteer assignments) but -does- include overnight business trips. No uniform items may be taken off campus while on personal leave.

Legal Compliance

While it is not anticipated that enemy forces may attack facilities in North America, we are at war.

The following positions are considered COMBATANTS for the purpose of the Geneva Conventions: REACT, Security

The following positions are considered CIVILIANS not permitted to engage in warlike acts, and therefore enjoying limited protection: regular employees, most contractors, Facilities

Note that this facility is engaged in supporting the War and is therefore considered a legitimate military target.

The following positions are considered PROTECTED for the purpose of the Geneva Conventions: Fire Brigade, Stretcher Bearers (when prepared to or actually providing care to casualties), Medical, Prisoners

Wearing a proper uniform is crucial to retaining these legal protections.

Laundry & Cleaning

Laundry facilities are presently extremely limited. Departments have made their own arrangements for washing work clothing. Please work with your department and follow departmental rules accordingly. -Use of departmental laundry subscription services for personal clothing without authorization is considered internal theft.-

There is a shared use laundry area near the Dormitory in C building. The staff will instruct in how to wash personally owned clothing. Water conservation is strictly enforced. Use of this area is a privilege not a right, and violations of posted rules may result in revocation of access and/or escalation to your manager or point of contact. Brushes, buckets, agitator paddles and clothespins may not be removed from the shared use area. Nothing larger than a 'full' size sheet or blanket may be washed in the area. The red taped sink must be used to decontaminate blood soaked clothing or cloth, under direct supervision unless you have completed the Laundry Decontam course. Only the pink sink can be used for diapers. Neither the pink nor the red sinks may be used for any other undergarments. Note that if hot water is not available, both red and pink sinks will be closed to use.

For health, safety, sanitation, and uniform security reasons, washing of laundry outside the shared use laundry area and other authorized locations is strictly prohibited. The point of contact chain for authorizing new locations is Facilities Group -> Security -> Fire Brigade -> Infirmary -> VP Facilities (final approver).

Tuesdays and Saturdays from 0600 to 1000 and Wednesdays and Sundays from 1300 to 1700, a technician is available adjacent to the laundry area to indelibly mark personally owned clothing. This is a precondition of using the subscription services and strongly encouraged for all affiliates.

Use of the laundry subscription services is -required- for Dormitory residents and strongly recommended for all others. This service is billed weekly to your salary by deduction and is the only method at present to wash larger sheets, blankets, etc. Special requests will be honored on a time available basis.

Prisoner clothing is only washed, repaired or maintained within the Trash Yard.

Repairs & Alterations

There are two authorized alteration vendors and two authorized shoe shine vendors.

Employees are reminded that side businesses require management approval. Generally, "doing a favor for a friend" is less than five (5) transactions per day.

A limited amount of laundry and clothing supplies is available for sale by E18 Sundries. Please note that needles are priced per each.

The support of the CLIENT Sewing & Knitting Club is gratefully acknowledged. If you need to learn these skills, see internal/knitthat for the current class schedules.
