GWOT 2 - Policy Statement

Re: gender classification of detainees

All Homeland detention facilities are classified as "Male Only" or "Male and Female." This is so that adequate safety, security and sanitation measures can be provided as appropriate.

In cases where the gender of a detainee is not obvious or conflicts with their gender presentation:

To properly assign detainees to facilities that will suit their needs, where available a licensed medical professional will determine the gender of a detainee. The presence or absence of male genitals will be determinative.

Where a licensed medical professional is not available, persons of undetermined gender may not be admitted to a Homeland detention facility.
