No. Getting hurt is not a desirable outcome of a fight. It tends to go with the territory, however.

From my point of view, a fight is two people beating the shit out of each other. Anything else is a conflict, a disagreement, a rape, being dominated, playing. something else. At least, from my point of view.

A fight is not a no-holds-barred battle to the death. (Although it can become so under some circumstances.)

Anyone who is 'beating the s*** out of each other' either doesn't know how to fight at all, or is fighting socially -- as Marines, batterers, barflies and young dumb people are sometimes known to do, especially when alcohol becomes involved. This doesn't keep them from hurting or killing someone, whether by accident, misfortune or on purpose.

If someone goes hands-on who knows what they are doing, and they are not holding back, life-changing injuries are sure to result and death is not an uncommon outcome. The real world is not WWE. The wrestling actors have to work hard to avoid injuring each other; it is real world acting with safety rules, not a form of fighting.

People in the protective professions do not have the luxury of fighting socially. Either one is fighting for a limited objective (personal safety, to make an arrest, to defuse violence, etc.) or one is fighting to save lives, including one's own. If the latter, a gurney will be needed for the loser(s), with or without body bag, as appropriate; and the winner will be arrested.
