repost from march 2006: "today, folks, we're going to talk about clues"

I feel that the following re-post is appropriate to the present circumstances.

Clues are small things, but oh so important.

When drewkitty says, in a personal context, that he wants to be confronted with issues rather than having them talked about behind his back . . . he means it.

When Andrew says, in a work context, to shut the fuck up and stop spreading damaging gossip . . . he means it.

Not because drewkitty will do anything . . . but because the universe inevitably will.

It's kind of like this. Someone is walking towards the cliff. Drewkitty is watching, increasingly concerned.

* "You know, you might want to be careful. There's a cliff there."
* "There's no guard rail. It's slippery."
* "It's deceptively close. You can probably get a great view from here."
* "Um, what are you doing? That's a hundred foot fall! This is not a cliff you can dive from, you aren't carrying rappel gear . . ."
* "STOP! That's a FUCKING CLIFF!"
* . . .
* Hmmmph.
* "Hi, 911? Yeah, I'm out here at the cliff overlook. I just saw someone walk off the cliff. You're gonna need the cliff rescue team, paramedics, and given that they just walked off the cliff, PD support for the paramedics might be a good idea too."

Can we give the rescue teams a rest? Thank you.

Called up to active duty and deployed overseas. Deutschland is a month or so (give or take a few, exact dates not to be revealed) stop-over for final train-up, then it's on to the Balkans to keep the peace over there.

Will be back in approx a year (probably a bit less at this point)-- not a bad deployment though-- beats the s*** out of going back to Iraq or having the "all-expenses-paid vacation" in Afghanistan:
