in a nutshell

I don't support Obama. But when one candidate is setting fire to my house, and the other one is talking buckets and fire hoses, I'm not going to wait to see if he really has water or not.

Is your house in this case a metaphor for the economy?

[identity profile] drewkitty.livejournal.com 2008-09-18 09:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Actually, for the country. The economy is one problem; the breakdown of civil discourse and meaningful political debate is another; the wholesale violation of civil rights is a third.

Maybe I'm missing something?

Uh - Wut? Sorry, not quite getting it. Please explain?

Let's try another analogy:

Obama is not a very good driver. He's sort of lost, and weaving a bit, but he's trying to head in a good direction.

McCain is a highly qualified driver. However, he's driving us over a cliff.

Okay, put the way you have, I guess you could say I don't support Obama.

But, since I absolutely detest J McSame (traitor to his fellow veterans, among other crimes), and am very definitely against him, I'm still voting for Obama and recommending (as a private citizen of course) that others do the same.

I don't want this seen as an endorsement. It's not. It's just that he's not McSame and Palindrone.

I hadn't ever heard "McSame and Palindrone" before. Bravo!
The 'driver' metaphor is excellent too.
