I wonder if Amtrak conductors even have basic first aid training? The kits on board the trains are VERY limited. There are clearly insufficient supplies on board in case of a rail accident or derailment.
If a medical emergency occurs aboard the train, their SOP is to call their dispatch for an ambulance to intercept at a highway crossing.
Most care on board Amtrak trains is provided by EMS-trained travelers. That in itself says something right there.
