This is a good time to take height-of-season flu precautions. Cover your cough, encourage others to do the same, maintain 3' social separation, make sure tissues and hand sanitizer are readily available to yourself and any visitors to your workplace, and watch both the news and the CDC announcements carefully.
If you come down with the flu and you have health coverage, seek medical attention. In any case, if you are sick please stay home. We don't want your bug to spread, we want you to get well soon.
This is also a good time to update contingency planning, out of area contact lists, and basic California earthquake preparedness steps. (3-7 days of water and food, auxiliary power for lighting and radios, alternative outdoor cooking.) Additional specific supplies: surgical/procedure masks, N95 masks IF your job could require exposure to airborne pathogens, OTC flu medications, bottled water, hand sanitizer, tissues. If you can't lay hands on these, don't panic about it.
This is NOT a good time to panic in any case. This will either blow over in 7-10 days, or mushroom to pandemic levels in about the same amount of time.
If it does go pandemic, limit unnecessary social contacts and travel and follow media-broadcast medical direction as to whether to seek medical attention. Workplaces should implement emergency operations plans. Nonessential workplaces may close; essential workplaces must stay open.

As an aside:
It is far too late to close the border to Mexico. The only effective radical measure would be to run a massive campaign in Spanish nationwide, signs all over the place as well as on all radio stations and using leaflets to target agricultural workers, telling people that if they are sick to go to any doctor or clinic or hospital and they will be treated for the flu, for free, with no risk of INS or DHS entanglements. (Have FEMA process treatment vouchers for later point of care reimbursement.) This is politically unlikely but would improve index case reporting and early stage treatments which are most effective.
