A major blow was struck in the war on terror today. A national leader whose country has been tied to nuclear proliferation, terrorist training camps, and the rise of Islamic fundamentalism spoke at an American university in New York. He was asked pointed and tough questions and gave responsive (if not entirely honest) answers to same. Further, he promised, ON THE RECORD, that he would provide American academics and students the opportunity to visit his nation's universities and speak with equal candor.

The war against terrorism is a war of ideologies. Our ideology, rooted in the fundamentals of human dignity, the search for truth and the freedom of speech, cannot help but prevail on even ground.

We did more harm to the cause of world terror today than a thousand well-placed smart bombs could have. Do I agree with President Ahmadinejad? Hell, no! Does allowing him to say his piece educate America and Israel as to their peril, the non-aligned nations as to his lunacy, and create doubt and confusion in the fundamentalist ranks? Hell, yes!

Read the transcript. It's good stuff.
