- "Fiat lux" (let there be light) is not intended to apply to academic politics.
- . . . nor California state politics.
- . . . nor the University of California budget.
- . . . nor the correlation between ownership of certain construction companies and the presence of certain wealthy businesspeople on the Board of Regents.
- In fact, let's forget the whole damn motto, shall we?
- Social ecology shall not be used to study the phenomenon of the street gang.
- There are no gangs in Irvine.
- The presence of a "gang unit" is not proof that there are gangs in Irvine.
- The Irvine Highway Patrol (ahem, Irvine Police) is not a gang.
- Correlations between gang behavior and Irvine police behavior are inappropriate.
- Driving While Asian is neither a diagnosis nor a phenomenon.
- Judges are never wrong.
- Professors are never wrong.
- A judge, who is also a professor, is never ever ever wrong.
- The success of the UCI Fertility Lab was not caused by an ejaculating lab tech.
- The success of the Willed Body Program was not caused by selling body parts at auction.
- The failure to win program approval for the UCI Law School had nothing to do with either of the above, or drewkitty's extensively annotated commentary.
- There is nothing at all wrong with having criminal justice professors analyze statistical data to prioritize the prosecution of "Three Strikes" offenders.
- Even when this is harm to a research subject.
- Even when there is a high correlation between being gang-labeled and being non-white.
- Even when jokingly over a beer, it is admitted [STRONG EDIT] . . .
- Deviance on the Internet is not a socially useful research topic.
- Graduate students may not apply for tenure. Even if they teach.
- Bringing unexploded psychological cluster ordinance to UCI instead of the UCI Acute Psychiatric Ward.
- Supporting the continued existence of the Irvine Meadows West trailer park, now a parking lot.
- Now a half-empty parking lot.
Consequences of Violation
